Painting – Introduction

This short course explores the fundamentals of composition, light, colour, and form through carefully arranged still-life setups.
Students will learn how to observe with intention, capture accurate proportions, and create depth using value and different painting techniques, studying the qualities of watercolour. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll experiment with texture, brushwork, and colour theory, while building confidence in your painting process.
Working with classic subjects such as fruit, flowers, ceramics, and fabric, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how light interacts with different surfaces and how to translate that onto the 2-dimentional surface. By the end of the course, you’ll complete a fully realized still-life painting and develop skills that strengthen all areas of your artistic practice.
The course suitable for beginners, advanced students, and those who would like to refresh and strengthen their technical skills in understanding form in colour.
